The third FIN-TECH knowledge exchange session with the joint participation of experts of University of Economics – Varna, of Financial Supervision Commission, of Bulgarian Fintech Association and representatives of fintech companies in Bulgaria, dedicated to blockchain technology, will be held online on April 15 and 16, 2021.
Among the main points of interest and discussion over the two-day’s session are the blockchain technology itself, together with the Bulgarian Fintech ecosystem, ICO success drivers, real-life blockchain use cases and more on the basket-based stable coins, statistical classification of cryptocurrencies, cyber Risk Management with Rank Based Models and Explainable AI, Smart contracts – application, opportunities and risks, analysis of the cryptocurrency market applying different prototype-based clustering techniques are among the scheduled topics for discussion.
The event is held within the project FIN-TECH "A FINancial supervision and TECHnology compliance training program", funded by HORIZON 2020, in which the University of Economics - Varna and the Financial Supervision Commission represent Bulgaria in a consortium of 24 countries, each of which is represented by an educational institution in the field of higher education and a regulatory body for the non-banking sector.
The speakers of the event will be: Prof. Stefan Vachkov, assoc. prof. Nedyalko Valkanov, Assoc. prof. Silvia Parusheva, Chief assist. prof. Yanka. Alexandrova, Chief assist. prof. Dimitria Karadimova, Chief assist. prof. Lyubomir Lyubenov, Mr. Stefan Blaginov – DLT developer based in London, Mr. Georgi Penev, Director of Bulgarian Fintech Association, Mr. Nick Todorov, Founder and CEO of LimeChain, member of the Bulgarian Fintech Association.
Since the start of the project at the beginning of 2019, the experts of the University of Economics - Varna and the FSC participated in two more sessions for knowledge exchange in the fields of big data and artificial intelligence. UE - Varna and FSC jointly organized and held an International Round Table "Peer to peer lending in Europe and the Balkan Peninsula".
Scientific report on "The symbiosis "FINTECH-REGTECH-SUPTECH" or a vision for high-tech financial regulation" was presented at the UE-Varna’ Jubilee International Scientific Conference "Economic Science, Education and the Real Economy: Development and Interaction in the Digital Age", May 11-12 2020. Three scientific publications with authors – members of the expert’ team of the University of Economics - Varna for organization, management and implementation of the FIN-TECH project are also result of the project work. The scientific publications address the default risk in peer to peer lending via comparing performance of machine learning algorithms for predicting it, as well as the regulation, competition and partnership in the financial sector and some aspects of regulatory optimizations in it.
